Timeframe: March 2015– March 2016

Project objective:  to assist in creating a system of effective interaction of Cherkasy oblast courts with the general public, most notably, civil society organizations and local mass media, to promote pertinent standards of such interaction taking into consideration the adherence to the principle of independence and impartiality of the court.

Activities:

• to assess what court visitors think about the quality and performance of 27 courts of Odesa oblast with the help of the citizen report cards methodology;
• To promote democratic standards of interaction of the courts, mass media and civil society organizations in Cherkasy oblast
• To build capacity of the courts’ staff in Cherkasy oblast to ensure proper informing of the society about the work of courts by using modern informationcommunication technologies, to provide expedient response to external requests to provide information about the court’s operation and judicial reform
• To advance the quality of court journalism at the local level.
